Understanding 0% or low interest dealer financing
The actual interest rate can be as high as 10%. How? Zero percent (O%) or low-interest dealer financing may sound great, but you may forgo $1000’s in dealer incentives and/or rebates. You may be limited to specific models, model years, or vehicles on the lot. Low interest or 0% financing can sometimes be offered to promote slower selling vehicles and/or to make room for newer models. Additionally, you may be stuck paying the sticker price and your term of loan may be limited, resulting in a high monthly payment.
You could save more on your payments with a higher rate by applying those rebates to your loan! Plus, you get to choose the vehicle you want, take advantage of the incentives, and negotiate the best possible price.
